Cece McDonald free; Jeremy Hammond transferred

We have news of two of the prisoners that we sent cards to at our Xmas social. First, the good news:

CeCe was released from prison on January 13, 2014, which was her long-anticipated release date. She’ll serve the remainder of her 41-month sentence on parole, consistent with Minnesota sentencing law.

Then, the not-so-good-but-useful bit of news about Jeremy Hammond:

Jeremy has been on a bit of a journey recently being transferred from prison to prison on his way to the one where he will serve the remainder of his sentence.

We are very relieved to announce that he has finally reached that prison – FCI Manchester in Kentucky.

While it is not as close to Chicago as his family and friends may have liked, it is medium security, and Jeremy is satisfied with the choice.

We were pleased with how the card-writing event went and we’re hoping to make a more regular commitment to political (in a wide sense) prisoners. With that in mind, we’re meeting again this Sunday to write again to some of the people we sent cards to, maybe some other people. We’re doing it as a group for that wee bit encouragement to keep going with a thing that can be a bit daunting at first. And because then we can have cake.

If you want to get involved, either this weekend or at a future date then get in touch with us using the form on this page.
